Referral & Affiliate Policy
Last updated: September 2026
Short version: Some links on SwissNewbie are referral or affiliate links. When you use one and activate a product, SwissNewbie may receive a reward from the provider. This never costs you more — in most cases you also get a welcome benefit. We only feature providers we believe are genuinely useful for expats in Switzerland.
How we earn money
SwissNewbie earns revenue through referral partnerships, affiliate programmes, and in some cases lead-generation arrangements with Swiss product and service providers. We may receive a commission, fee, or reward when a visitor:
- Opens an account or subscribes to a product via a SwissNewbie referral link
- Redeems a code from SwissNewbie and completes a qualifying action
- Submits a contact form to a partner (where applicable)
The final reward amount depends on the provider, the product, and whether the activation meets the provider's eligibility criteria. We do not earn from organic content links or from Priminfo (the official FOPH health insurance calculator).
What it means for your price
Referral commissions are paid by the provider from their marketing budget. They are not added to your bill. In many cases, using a SwissNewbie referral link gives you a welcome benefit (such as a fee credit, bonus, or discount) that you would not get by going directly to the provider's website.
How we select offers
We list providers we consider genuinely suitable for expats moving to or living in Switzerland. Commercial arrangements do not automatically qualify a provider for a feature. We do not rank providers by commission alone. We consider:
- Actual fit for newcomers and residents in Switzerland
- Product quality, pricing, and English-language support
- Regulatory standing (FINMA, FOPH, OFCOM etc.)
- Confirmed visitor benefit (we do not promise benefits we cannot verify)
Benefit accuracy and verification
We review the benefits shown on SwissNewbie against provider terms and our referral dashboard on a regular basis. Where a benefit is variable (depends on the product selected, deposit amount, or activation conditions), we state this alongside the offer. Where a benefit cannot be confirmed, we do not display a specific number — we state that the benefit is shown by the provider.
If you notice a benefit that appears to be out of date or inaccurate, please contact us.
Disclosure on pages
Every commercial offer card on SwissNewbie shows a short disclosure line alongside the call to action. It reads: "Referral link — SwissNewbie may receive a reward after activation." This appears in English, German, and French on the relevant pages. Full policy detail is linked from the card disclosure to this page.
Privacy and data
When you click a referral link, you leave SwissNewbie and land on the provider's own website. Your personal data at that point is subject to the provider's privacy policy, not SwissNewbie's. SwissNewbie does not share your personal data with providers.
SwissNewbie may record that a referral link was clicked (e.g. the offer ID, provider, and source page) for internal analytics. This data does not include your name, email address, or other personally identifying information.
Provider verification queue
We maintain an internal list of claims that we are seeking to verify with provider dashboards and current terms. Until a numeric benefit is confirmed against a source URL and a review date, we display a neutral statement such as "benefit shown by provider". Our offer data file documents the verification status of each offer.
